All-Inclusive Mushroom Weekend at Earthbound Ecovillage in Småland

Join us for a weekend in the forests of Småland, where we slow down, step into the woods, and explore the fascinating world of wild mushrooms together.

From Friday evening to Sunday lunch, you will learn to identify, forage, and cook with fungi, guided by Sofia and Suvi, two experienced foragers and mushroom consultants with a deep knowledge of wild fungi. Whether you are completely new to mushrooms or looking to deepen your knowledge, this weekend is for you.

The course takes place at Earthbound Ecovillage, a calm and secluded setting surrounded by mixed woodland and rich fungal habitats, an ideal place to learn, rest, and reconnect with nature.

The first five participants to sign up will receive a curated sample pack with five different dried mushrooms (20 g each), foraged, dried, and prepared by Sofia and Suvi.

What the weekend looks like

Friday evening: Arrival and introduction We gather in the evening to settle in, get to know each other, and ease into the weekend over a shared dinner.

Saturday: Into the forest and kitchen We start with the fundamentals: mushroom anatomy, families, and how to identify common edible species. Then we head out into the forest to forage together and practice what we have learned in the field.

Back at the kitchen, we cook with our harvest and explore different ways of preparing and preserving mushrooms, including drying, pickling, and fermentation.

Sunday: History, myths, and preservation We round off the weekend by exploring the cultural history of mushrooms in Sweden, the myths, the traditions, and the relationship between people and fungi over time. We continue working with preservation hands-on, and close the weekend around lunchtime with a shared meal.

Throughout the weekend, food is at the heart of everything. Meals are built around mushrooms and seasonal ingredients, giving you plenty of opportunities to taste, experiment, and get inspired.

  • All meals from Friday dinner to Sunday lunch, with a mushroom-forward, plant-based, and organic focus. This includes two breakfasts, three fikas, two lunches, and two dinners.

Accommodation and meals are booked as a package alongside the course ticket. Several options are available at checkout.

Accommodation

Earthbound offers a range of comfortable places to stay, all including access to shared indoor spaces and the hot tub. Choose the option that suits you best at checkout.

Glamping Tent (4 beds, shared): Outdoor tent with proper beds, duvets, pillows, and blankets. Access to indoor bathroom and outdoor lavatory.

Glamping Tent (2 beds, shared): Same as above, in a smaller tent.

Twin Room: Two single beds in a shared room with shared bathroom. Each bed is booked separately, so if you are two people sharing, you each need your own add-on and course ticket.

Single Room: Private room with shared bathroom.

Single Room with Private Bathroom: Private room with en suite bathroom.

Double Room with Private Bathroom: Accommodation and meals for two people included. Please note that each person still needs their own course ticket.

The glamping tents are outdoors and unheated. October weather in Småland can be unpredictable, so a sleeping bag and warm layers are recommended.

About the course leaders

Sofia, Vildväxt Sofia is a trained self-sufficiency practitioner, mushroom consultant, and nature guide with a deep love for the wild edible pantry. Sofia's teaching moves naturally between plants, fungi, and fermentation, driven by a genuine curiosity for flavor and the full journey from forest to finished dish.

Suvi, Sporesong Suvi is a trained mushroom consultant who leads foraging walks, courses, and immersive experiences in nature. Suvi has a sharp eye for species identification and a gift for making complex ecology feel approachable, building real confidence in the people Suvi guides.

  • A minimum of 8 participants is required for the course to run
